Before
When I was in college I was sincerely against the celebration of V-Day. Its not beacuse I had some hard feelings for this day which is solely based on western culture with the controversial story of St. Valentine, promoted by media and business houses to get another occassion to sell their cheap or costly products in India. I had nothing harsh in my heart & mind towards people in love but I was against the stupid hide and seek game of young couple at many places just for some mental and physical pleasures as they don't even know the basic meaning of love and they only wish to meet anyhow irrespetive of the permission of their families and society.
I was amazed to see young kids doing that stupid offense to have girl friends & boy friends in their life when they should have their studies as only friend and objective in their life. This all irritate me a lot that influence me to protest against V-Day. Although I never find myself ready to get involved in any illegal activities to beat the young couples or put coaltar or red color on their faces to show my objection.
I have friends of both the species, some of my friends like to celebrate the Vday with their best friends which they call as their love. Although I have find many people changed their partners very next year. I wonder how they able to tolerate their break-ups and seeing their x-partners in someone else arms. And also some of my friends involved in protest against this Day. May be because they don't have girl friends of their own, that provoked them to join the rebellion group to have some fun or hide their jealous on that day.
I never had any girl friend in my life and I don't have any regret for this as if I had anyone I may be the part of those who believe in stupid love which is basically an infatuation towards opposite gender that happen mostly in youngesters. I have many good friends in my life including both boys & girls but never had any special feelings toward any girl (ofcourse not for any boy).
Now
And now the time has changed to me a lot. This is my third Valentine Day with my better half. We have celebrated our first VDay before marriage wishing each other on phone (she was in Mumbai and I was in Ahmedbad). And we have celebrated our 2nd VDay in hospital as my dad had gone one minor operation (and then he became healthy as before). This is our 3rd VDay and we have some plans this year. We want to buy small gifts for each other and planning to go out for dinner in a new restaurant.
Now VDay is no more than any other good day for me on which I can plan something special different from other hectic days. But I still don't want to see youngsters to celebrate this festival in any offensive manner. What I feel we should celebrate this festival of love with our better half, our lovely family and dear friends like other Indian festivals. Also I don't support the group of protesters who are against this festival just to get some limelight and boost for their political career and suggest them to celebrate this Day with their loved ones.
We all must be reading news on pink Chaddis & Sarees to be given as gifts between the two groups on VDay.May god bless them all and give some peace to their minds.
